Laventille Steelband Festival:
Russell Latapy is among five persons to receive an award at the
Laventille Steelband Festival on Sunday July 30. The 8 hour festival
is a street parade along the Eastern Main Road in Success Village
from 4 p.m. to midnight. Among the pan-round-the-neck bands that have
committed to the festival are national champions, Arima All Stars,
St James Tripolians and Serenaders, Pashphonics and the Spree Simon
Harmonics. Witco Desperadoes, BP/Amoco Renegades, PCS Starlift,
InnCogen Pamberi, Trinmar Hatters, Solo Pan Knights, Carib Tokyo,
Blue Diamonds, Harmonites and the Courts Laventille Sounds Specialists
comprise the slate of conventional orchestras that will participate
in the festival.

TANTIE TALK: So is how allyuh like how we boys and dem ramajay all
over Mexico on Sunday? An' de goal dat Latas and Dwightie drop in
dey rukungkutunkung was sweet too bad. Tantie did nearly have a
heart attack or three. It look like de World Cup blight finally
