The introduction of religious passion into politics is the end of honest politics, and the introduction of politics into religion is the prostitution of true religion.

TANTIE TALK:

Dey say God is ah Trini... eef dat is de case, I want to believe dat is
because He real like how we does live wid we attitude and 'mentality' and
He really eh have no problem wid 'trini time'. After all, is because we
make in His own image and likeness...BUT it have some ah we who believe
de only reason He could be ah Trini is because He does bend hurricane
'round and in-between dese 2 lil piece of rock in de ocean. Chantal pass
we by, drop some flood in South and in de East and generally annoy plenty
people. And yes 2 brothers did get kill by lightning, but really and
truly dat coulda happen in ANY thunderstorm, because once it have
lightning around, any number could play.

Even eef Chantal wus ah full-blown hurricane heading straight fuh we, yuh
know Trini wus jes going to buss a steups, leff dey wuk early and go lime
in ah bar somewhere. De last time we wus threatened, Hurricane Brett
(and he did turn out to be a real maverick!) wus coming direct at de
middle of Trinidad and had plenty people more dan a lil bit worried. Dem
wus de ones who went in dey grocery and "loot wid money"...everything get
buy out by 3 o' clock. All over town quiet, except fuh de music,
drinking and carousing dong in St. James. Dem say it cyar do we nuttin'
and had ah next drink. And yuh know de damn ting squeeze through de gap
between Trinidad and Tobago, lick up from Venezuela all de way up into
Mexico, killing 'bout 3-400 people! I eh know when one go really hit we,
but we bound to must get ah lil touch sometime. Unfortunately, de lucky
streak we on have people so lackadaisical dat dey doh even bodder to check
dey house and mek sure dat it could tek some high breeze. But de worse
part of dis 'doh care' attitude is dat we doh realise dat we face ah much
more serious danger than hurricanes. De ting dat most likely to do
SERIOUS damage in dis land is earthquakes but nobody doh even study dat
until we get a lil shake up. Besides de fact dat most houses ent built to
take ah good shakeup, what we doh realise is dat de most heavily
populated part of Trinidad - de East-West corridor from Grande to POS -
sitting dong on top of a major fault line, I talking serious fault like
dem ones by San Francisco! So bredders and sisters yuh know when ah good
big one hit, it not going to be nice.

Is only then we go know for sure eef He is a Trini...
