TANTIE TALK:
Well, well, well...what a thing! De ole Tants did have to sit back and digest dis thing real good, and it still ent settle in de belly yet. So, after all de bacchanal and scandal done talk and de ink did dry, we still no better off than we was before...18-18 mean it have 36 'winners' and 1.2 million losers (besides the 30 from Team Unity, 6 from the NAR and 2 from the National Democratic Organisation that is) because we still no better off than we was on December 9th.
But then again, when yuh think about it what we need a government or even a parliment for? We doh need to pay a setta people to pose as Ministers and give away what little resources we have in this land, is best we just tell whoever want, to come and take and jes give T&T a percentage off de top! We have a whole setta 'slightly shop-soiled' laws dat never get enforced, so we going
to pay dem 36 people to pass even more so dey could gather dust too? And what about de ones dat still ent properly pass after years bouncing around in parliment?
It interesting to look at the actual numbers in de elections... de UNC get 274,653 votes and de PNM 252,678 which is 21,975 less but, even if yuh add in Team Unity 14,359 and de NAR 5809 votes, yuh go end up wid 1,807 short. De real interesting thing is dat is in only 2 seats dat de TU votes coulda/woulda make a difference - in San'do West and in Tunapuna. Most of the wins was very clear cut- 2:1 at minimum and reaching as high as 9:1, but yuh has to ask yuhself how come de leader of a political party could only get a little over 1.5 times de votes of his main challenger , especially when de selfsame challenger for de seat did only recently jump ship? If Patos ent get de message by now he not only in a bad way, he plenty worse than anybody realise! If de PNM had win 35-1 wid Patos losing he seat, everybody woulda know de elections get rig...but you feel anybody, even Bas, woulda mind?
Now we back at square one...and is de 'Elder Statesman' of de tribe dat have to make a decision. De selfsame man who did get 'buse from all and sundry when he open he mouth after de last election about what he see was going on...is what Ramesh go have to say dis time around? Is not de selfsame "creeping dictatorship" dat Robbie was talking about dat cause he to walk? How come he didn' see it then? He was jam up too close and
couldn' see what was at he feet or what? Patos making claims to de title but de Silver Fox quoted as saying he will "continue to reign as Prime Minister" ...I only hope is de newspapers dat get that wrong, because as far as Tantie know we did never coronate no Prime Minister in dis country...and we even give up de Queen as we Head of State to boot!
Plenty more to come, but de clincher go be if Bas get back as PM, sweet T&T go be unique in de world as being de only country wid a Head of State who have papers to prove he sane.
