TANTIE TALK:
It looking like it have some hope for this country...who woulda thought
BOTH UNC and PNM would come together, sit down and discuss de situation
like big people? Is a good thing Tantie heart still strong yes, because
odderwise I woulda drop down one time when I hear dat Bas and Patos
agreeing to work together for de good of T&T.
What I waiting to see is who dey choose to be de Speaker, and who was
de ones dat didn' get choose...it go really show what kinda concessions
each side willing to make. Already dey decide to investigate one setta
projects dat was looking funny to everybody else but de powers dat was.
Hopefully dey will continue de co-operating and don't start disagreeing
jes for arguments sake. I see dey done telling dey supporters dat no
matter who Robbie put as Prime Minister, dey have to accept it. Dat is
more sense than we hear from dem in many years, but I wonder if it is dat
he have to put either Bas or Patos or if he could put any of de other
elected people?
If yuh listen to what Bas and Patos saying, it really sound like dey know
is neither of dem go be PM...it might just be de Rottweiler time or maybe
Kamla go get de wuk 'permanant' instead of she usual acting position.
Whoever get de wuk have to know dey in for a hard time, because if de
thing is to work out dey have to dismantle 40+ years of political &
bureaucratic machinery dat only holding we back. Dey have to do some
serious thinking about where we are now, where we should actually be
and where it is we want to be in future as a nation. Dey have to have
de 'testicular fortitude' to lay out a real policy and to stand by it.
De country need to have proper social services but we doh want no
unrealistic promises...if yuh cyant do, say so. Doh promise what yuh
know yuh cyant deliver, we had enough of dat arredy. But most of all,
dey need to make all Trini wuk together, agree to disagree, but be proud
to stand up and say yuh is a Trini.
And de timing couldn't be better, because more than ever now we need to
have a serious look at de society and try we best to cure the sickness
that sweeping we land. When yuh coming to the end of the year and yuh
have de three main religions having major festivals of renewal and
celebration of faith and spirit within a few weeks of each other, how
it is last week with six murders in 48 hours could be possible?
We all have to pitch in this time around, because if we mess up it we
mightn't have a nex time...and if yuh need something to keep yuh going,
have another listen to de Black Stalin's "We can make it if we try".
