TANTIE TALK:
$3,000 !!! Yes yuh hear right - thurty blue notes. Ah whole 150
twenty dullah bill. Ah still cyar believe dat is what it cost fuh
Tantie an she squeeze to go 2,3 fete and buy we corstume. 4 all-
inclusive fete by 2 pee-pul by $250 each is two thousand dullah...
and de 2 corstume is ah nex turteen hundred dullah. Yeh ah did say
2 corstume, because Tantie eh going and pay no turteen hundred dullah
fuh no decorated hanger that have G and T and all odder kinda
alphabet string that she couldn't even put orn when she cudda fit
into dat kinda ting. Eef allyuh eh work out yet day yuh could play
mas in a nice, nice band fuh "small" money, Tantie waiting fuh
allyuh to ketch up.
I doesn't know how de young people does do dis ting, cus eef I try to
do de maths fuh dey carnival, it looking real close to $10,000 for a
couple. Cus yuh know dem lil bit ah nutting-at-all corstume starting
off at $1,200 fuh one... and dem young people eh going to only 4 fete.
Dey feel dey young and strong and have stamina. And yuh know dem
young gyul does have to buy new dan-dan fuh every fete. So is how
dey managing to pay fuh dat and dey rent and dey car and dey food
is what Tantie really want to know. Is no wonder it have so much
pee-pul wukkin de street at night. Dem have to be selling sumting
to make dat kinda money. Somebody making BIG money orf ah de
Carnival and fuh sure it eh de pee-pul selling in de booth and dem
by de Savannah. And de band leaders say it eh dem. So who it is?
Is only God and de Taxman know...
