TALK:
In de '50s, US President Harry S. Truman had a sign on his desk "the
buck stops here". He meant it to show that as President, he was
responsible for everything and it all came back to him. Poor Harry
would be confused as hell trying to work out whey de proverbial
'buck' would stop in T&T... cause it look like nobody does tek
responsibility fuh nuttin'. Ratchifee and bobol in de NWRHA
according to de Auditor General and de man who was Chairman when it
was happening bold-face enough to say he "satisfied to see that the
report is a vindication of my integrity." Wuss yet, he go on to say
"I feel it unnecessary to say anything about a report that has
nothing to say about me as former Chairman of the NWRHA." Oh gorm!
Eef even yuh didn't have no hand in de comess, at least have the
testicular fortitude, if not the decency, to admit yuh was a waste
of time in de position eef yuh didn't know de bacchanal was going on!
De nex setta Artful Dodgers is de NCC. Dem spend one setta money
Carnival time on all kinda ting, including 3 macco-big TV screen (at
least on of which was a traffic hazard as Tantie did point out at de
time). Now de current Minister(s) of Culture querying de spending
of "$3 million on unbudgeted projects". De Board getting on dey high
horse and vex. At least de NCC Chairman did resign, but he saying
dat is de former Minister who "indicated her willingness to support
those initiatives, which is what gave us the impetus to begin the
planning process". Dey spend $1.5 million fuh de TV screens hoping
to pull in $2 million in advertising... ah wonder how much did come
in at all? and what was de return on de rest of de $3 million.
Ah mean Carnival spending by de NCC doh really show immediate direct
results, but what it is dey really spend dat $3 million orn? Dat
investment good fuh how many years? We still own dem TV screen or
dat was rental? Is deese kinda 'difficult question' dat need to be
arksed more often.
... and ah doh even want to go by the T&TFF. I feel dey should
change dey name to de Trinidad & Tobago Football Fiasco. Dem jes
cyar do nuttin right! Dey fire Bertille and bring in Porterfield.
Dey finally come to dey senses and fire him 'bout 6 months too late.
All de confusion dat wus going orn wid players come to ah head when
Dwightie and Latas done wid international football. Ah really cyar
blame dem totally, because dey never know where dey was when it come
to de national team. Is not like dey wus playing in Venezuela or
Martinique and could tek ah 'short drop' to Trinidad. When dey leave
dey club in de UK, is ah minimum of 3 days travelling back and
forth... plus when dey get kick-up and cyar play fuh de club, it
does put dem in ah real tricky situation. So wid all dis haseekara
wid de T&TFF is no wonder dey ensuring dey bread stay buttered. But
after all said and done, we end up last in the tables and NOT going
to de World Cup... one setta money get spend and it turn out we had
de wrong coach, so, who it is who did benefit? Not the team, not the
supporters... I feel is de same person who cause all de comess in de
first place, but yuh feel dey go stand up and say dey make a mistake?
