The idea that Bill Gates has appeared like  a knight in shining armour to lead all  customers out of a mire of technological  chaos neatly ignores the fact that it was  he who, by peddling second-rate technology,
led them into it in the first place.

  TANTIE TALK:

Emancipation...so, "we free"! But what exactly are we commemorating/  celebrating? Freedom from physical slavery led straight into mental  slavery, which most of us are yet to escape. We still blindly follow  rules, regulations and customs established neither by, nor for,  ourselves, but... we free. Our education system has merely been  updated with new books and technology over the years, but it is  still essentially de same system that was designed to create a  'literate' population of 'locally assembled' clerks when it no  longer made economic sense for Britain to ship 'foreign used' ones  over here. Our laws still have references to and are based upon  customs and cultures of a bygone era, yet the English ones on which  they were modelled have been updated with the times.

We proclaim our emancipation from things past without understanding  what needs to be changed and why. A prime example is our sporting  administrations. Horse racing was the 'Sport of kings', because  originally only de high-and-mighty and well-to-do could afford it.   Nowadays, any and every body could own ah piece of ah horse, but it  still expensive and every time yuh turn 'round yuh hearing how the  'industry' in trouble. But eef dey would stop and study dat dey  ent no Kings and doh have money to jes pelt behind horse, dey would  realise dat de 'industry' really and truly IS ah business and have to  be run AS a business and not like de 'Old Boys Club' it used to be.
  Free-up yuh mind.

De same thing was happening in cricket. Dey did break de stranglehold  dat QPCC (and equivalents in de other territories) had on de game,  but dey turn around and end up wid de same kinda heavy-handed  'rulers' in charge who did seem to be de only ones benefitting from  de game. Interesting to note dat since de change in de top, de West  Indies team look like dey find back dey confidence .. and yes, ah  know it was only Zimbabwe, but ah WIN is ah WIN ... and dey did look  good doing it! Ah hope de young boys an dem realise dat freedom have  responsibility and not jes license.

Football...is what ah go say? Fus it have freeness in dat! Every game  is how many ticket sharing free-sheet? Depending on who yuh know,  it have plenty freeness running. Is ah free-fuh-all, but some does  get plenty more free dan de rest. When yuh stop and tek ah good  look at it, football itself eh free at all. FIFA is de world's most  successful conglomerate and dey have it lock-up tight, tight, tight.   So when we all want to put on we dashiki and tie up we head and  parade, is what we really celebrating at all? De new colonialism  dat everyting and everybody have ah Yankee accent and name Tommy  (according to dey clothes)? We proud to be emancipated and independent, but we still doh know who we are and where we going  because we fraid to look back at, and understand, where we come from.
