TANTIE TALK:
De Carnival is over and it was real nice! Ah know allyuh did miss mih
last week, but allyuh really didn't want Tantie to had was to miss out
on anything dat was going orn. Tantie went to she Sunday day-fete and
reach home early enough to rest she body fuh de J'Ouvert. Dis year,
Tantie didn't go in de J'Ouvert bands.. ah went to tek in pan in de
Bomb Competition down by Victoria Square.. and when ah tell yuh it was
NICE! Sweet pan fuh so!! It did really make yuh realise how much pan
missing from de Carnival. Ah feel is time to stop dem DJ truck fuh
J'Ouvert and jes have dem pan and dem on de road. On Monday Starlift
arreddy setting de pace wid some nice corstume and so many people, dey
have to hire 4 more steel band to play wid dem. Ah hope odder steel
bands could get together and do de same. We used to have United Pan
Forces coming in from de east. More like dat go be real nice. De
Monday night pan by Adam Smith Square - more nice music and it was
nice to see plenty young people out dere. It even had a whole side
ah young payol tekking in de pan and thoroughly enjoying demselves.

Tuesday mas was real, real sweet and Tantie and she squeeze really
play deyself. It was just a sweet time from half past seven in
the morning in de Savannah...all de way down. Ah mean tings was real
nice dis year. It had to be de music dat make de difference. Tantie
eh notice one fight in all ah de mas and de only real incident yuh did
hear 'bout was de bacchanal wid the police wrecker an de doctor and
ting. Real nice and mellow mas dis carnival. Ah jes hope de
songwriters and dem recognise what ah difference de music make.

And on a more serious note, Tantie has to remind allyuh dat dis week,
on de 8th is International Women's Day and Tantie has to encourage
you to take part in de activities going orn. Dey listed above and
yuh could always get in touch wid de organisers if yuh want any
details, but go out dere and show yuh support. Tantie go be looking
fuh allyuh.. because after de Carnival, we have to remember woman is
not only to wine and get orn in skimpy corstume...

We have to show her respect, we have to respect ourselves.
