TANTIE TALK:
De Telecom Bill... ah hope allyuh unnerstan what dis is all about?
Cause if yuh don unnerstan, crapaud could well smoke yuh pipe. What
ah mean is not all de in-and-out and clause and paragraph and
section of de bill, but what it propose to be about and how it
arreddy provoking changes dat go affect we. It long overdue,
because we didn't have no laws dat could deal with Internet and
ting and what it really needed for is to break de stranglehold
monolopy dat TSTT/C&W have on we. It does open up 'de market' to all
and sundry and establish rules fuh everybody which supposed to mean
once it have competition, yuh go be getting more and better fuh yuh
dollar.
But even before it pass, it arreddy having an effect. TSTT want
to change de way how dey billing and de only reason I could see for
it is to suck as much as dey could while dey could! Dey want to
change from $0.23 unlimited inside yuh Exchange and $0.08-$0.69
per minute to odder exchanges and put instead $0.20 and $0.23 a
minute everywhere in de country. Dat will make yuh phone bill go
from wearing diapers to long pants instantly.
Yuh know most people does call dey pardner cross de road, round de
corner wid an occasional call to yuh nennen in Tobago and Grande
and South. Eef dis ting go through, is real bacchanal in de place.
Yuh want to see fuh yuhself? Check at the end of yuh phone bill
whey it say 'Local calls, No. of calls, mins.sec (dat de calls add
up to) and de amount dey charging yuh. Now multiply de minutes and
seconds by $0.20 and see if yuh phone bill going down as dey say go
happen. So far I only see 'bout 2 dat went down. Everything else
went up. It had one went from $51.61 to $1,737.846 ... to be exact.
Tell me dem pee-pul eh seriously crazy. And de best part is all over
de world, telephone companies doh bodder to charge for local calls or
does have a fixed rate dat include de rental and everything because
it does cost dem more to do de billing and ting fuh each call dan de
actual cost ah de call!
De nex odder one who look like dey tekking in front is de cable TV
peple. It look like dem feel because it have nutting in de bill
bout cable, dem could do what dey want. Well, al have news fuh dem!
Is only so much Trini could take and unless dey giving all dem
minister and MP free cable, sumting bound to happen. Ah hav to give
jack he jacket, Minister BIM like he really up on tings.. because
when de almighty telecommunications guru decide he should ah ban
900mhz cordless phone, BIM did listen to de pee-pul, understand de
man did do nonsense and straighten out de mess one time.
Is to hope he really listening and tekking orn, not only de masses
and dem, but de pee-pul whey really know how de technology and ting
does wuk.
