TANTIE TALK:
Well is like de saying really true, dat yuh cyant teach a ole dog new tricks...Tantie did try a ting last week, putting de Talk pon de website
only...but it nah wuk! Yuh ole Tants did forget dat plenty of allyuh does get Trinidiary in de office and is like all dem big office and bank does only have email access. So we gone back to how it was - nice and simple.
De other day Tantie was trying to describe where a Doctor office was, and it was real hard because yuh know half de street do have no name, and when
yuh do find de street yuh now have to guess which building it is because when de house do have a number, it bong to mus' be number 11a, 11b or 11c!
Yuh know it real difficult in dis so-called 'Information Age' for people to find out anyting from any official source...IF yuh could even find de official source dat is. Tantie does get ask to find all kinda ting for people, and sometimes it does be real hard to know where to start!
We want to have tourist flocking to we country, but yet it do have no proper maps, wid up-to-date information about one-way street an ting. We doh have no guidebook showing bus and taxi route, or at least if it have Tantie never hear 'bout it. When yuh call a taxi service, half de time yuh spending 15 minutes on de phone trying to tell dem where you are and a nex 15 telling dem where yuh want to go...and do try to go to no street wid a non-English sounding name, dat does add on a nex 10 minutes.
And after all dat, when de driver reach yuh have to go through de whole routine again wid him, AND yuh have to show him de best route to take too! Is like dem people never hear about 'The Knowledge' or what? In London de drivers of de famous black taxis have to know EVERY street and building off de bat before dey could get a license, it does take years of riding a bike around London remembering where everything is. We doh have to be like dat, but really an truly a taxi driver should at least know where de street is, even if he doh know de exact building.
How many people from Sando know where to go for a St. Anns taxi, how many POS people know where to get a Point taxi from Sando? We have nothing showing where de taxi stands are, what de routes are or HOW yuh recognise which taxi going which route...because yuh know is only hand pointing in all direction dat showing where de taxi running to. If we cyant see fit
to provide de simple things for we own people day-to-day existence, is how we go be able to provide for de tourists who expecting a whole lot more?
We go be missing de boat in a big way.
