TANTIE TALK:

Well, it over! And ah has to admit dat generally it went well. But yuh know nuttin on dat kinda scale could go orf 100% smooth. Eef yuh eh realise by now, is de FIFA Under 17 World Cup in T&T dat ah talking bout. Over de 3 weeks yuh did get some nice, nice football playing and de crowds and dem did remind Tantie of de days of Intercol in front de Grand Stand.

We people did deyself proud, because even though de T&T boys did exit in de first round, dey still went out in dey thousands to each and every match. And dey even pick up ah FIFA award to boot. After de T&T/USA match, FIFA decide to give de audience ah 'Fair Play' certificate fuh de way dey did behave deyself, even after de US did beat we and end we hopes ah getting any further in de tournament. And speaking of fair play, dis tournament was oustanding fuh de way de players behave towards each odder on de field. Is when last yuh see ah player beat ah man, stop, look back and kick de ball out fuh ah throw because he opponent twist he ankle eating de beat and rolling bout on de ground?

And doh talk bout de goals! It had all kinda good goal to choose from... and de lil French boy, Sinima Pongolle did really pong goal on de odder teams. Is ah record 9 goals he score... and he set up plenty fuh he teammates too. Tantie didn't get chance to go to de matches, but ah did watch dem on TV every chance ah get and dat was ah first, because when football playing here, we doh be seeing it live on TV. Yuh does have to wonder why it never happen before...

Well yuh know Uncle J wus running de whole show. Apparently, he was running it a lil too well according to ah English journalist who arksing "difficult questions'" about why Uncle J and he family did get awarded de TV rights and de Catering concession... among odder tings. Now dis is de same fella who did bus de mark bout corruption in de IOC. So it look like he done wid de Olympics and now he in FIFA tail. Interesting times ahead, because he wus quoting email from Uncle J to de FIFA Jefe threatening to pull out de tournament "wid de backing of the Government" eef he didn't get de TV rights. Now it mus have plenty more in de mortar dan de pestle, because de nex company -CSTN, did tek out full page ads complaining 'bout de way tings was happening...but den Uncle J say eef he didn't get de rights, none of de Caribbean woulda be able to afford to see de games on TV. Me eh know who Mr. CSTN is and what he do Uncle J or vice versa, but dat sound like 2 man rat fighting fuh a very small hole.

... and while we on de subject of 'corruption', de Couva Quiff lorse he wuk over de issue. What ah ting! Is ah few weeks now he saying dat de Government should clear de air on de perception of corruption in de Party and Gov't. He calling fuh Commission of Inquiry, but dey eh tek he orn. And when he and he pardners get christen "The Gang of Four", he did know dat jes like de original Gang of Four, dey days wus numbered. Boyo did pull ah master stroke and call in de Press while he was clearing out he ofice and say he waiting fuh dem to fire he. Well, at dat stage, de Silver Fox could only do one ting... but now dat de Quiff no longer de A.G. it go be interesting to see what number play when de mark buss.
