TANTIE TALK:
It occur to Tantie the other day that more and more trees getting cut down left and right with little or no regard to what the consequences will be. Everywhere yuh look, a nex set of 'development' going on and de land getting seriously zog up wid bulldozers. Now Tantie realise dat it have more and more people needing housing, but what is de point of putting down a setta pretty, pretty looking house dat going to get flood out de first time a lil piece of rain pass by?

Now is more than just soil erosion we have to worry about, we forget that is de selfsame trees providing oxygen WE need to live, not to mention fruit dat we should be eating more of instead of running down apples and grapes like crazy. Doh talk about what we doing de birds...we moving de food and shelter dey need in de hillsides, and now dey looking for some in de towns we doing de same there.

Is when last you look around a 'residential' neighbourhood and see any more than de odd fruit tree? Trees was for climbing and breaking yuh tail out of! Nowadays I doubt de chirren could recognise a guava or a plum tree far more climb one! Trees used to shade and cool we houses, but now we using fancy drapes and blinds and airconditioning...but de saddest thing about cutting dem down is some of de self same trees was growing when we grandparents was lil chirren...just last week a Royal Palm on Bergerac Road get sacrificed in the name of progress.

I sorry, but whoever de architect/developer/whatever is dat have a 'vision' for de property and couldn' work around dat tree, well dey doh deserve to call demself professional. And just dong de road from dat site have a nex setta work going on where some macco big mango trees sure to bite de dust soon. When yuh doh study what it is yuh doing to nature
and yuh doh set yuh sights right, yuh have to be careful yuh doh get "hoist by your own petard"...or end up shooting yuhself in de foot.
