DE EVENTS AND DEM

Are you a politician asking what your country can do for you or a zealous one asking what you can do for your country? If you are the first, then you are a parasite; if the second, then you are an oasis in a desert.
-- Kahlil Gibran (The New Frontier 1915)

TANTIE TALK:
Allyuh still dere? Yuh Tantie have to ask eef allyuh okay after dat setta rain it did have over de weekend. Eef dis rain we having is "April showers", is what go happen in de rainy season? Like de rain gods and dem did forget it supposed to be light drizzle at dis time of de year. Yuh Tantie near get knock out Sunday wid a rain drop dat hit me on top mih head "SPLAADASH"! Doh talk 'bout when one ah dem land on de car windscreen, is de whole entire windscreen dat does get cover wid ONE raindrop. Tantie always say dat at least when it raining here, yuh KNOW it raining, it not like overseas when de whole day setup grey like it vex and it cyant decide if it want to rain in true... and to besides, at least here de chirren does get chance to play jockey in de canal and bade under de spouting until dey ketch cold to take home by dey mother.

But de flipside of all dat was two beautiful rainbows side by side, yuh Tantie wus privileged to see early Sunday morning. Talk about de beauty of Nature. Of course, Tants wus also checking to see whey de rainbow ending to go claim mih pot-o-gold. Man cyar live by Play Whe and Lotto alone, yuh know! When de torrents did finally come, Tantie was so busy putting down pot and pan to ketch de leaks dat I didn't have time to study nuttin else. But at least now I know whey de leak and dem be so I could get de roof fixup before de true true rainy season reach. But de rain well mess me up because I did plan to be watching de boys and dem down in Guyana while doing de Sunday lunch and had it time to perfection so de food woulda be almost finishing jes when dey going for lunch. Ah Lord, is what dey say bout de best laid plans of mice and men? I did figure by de time de calaloo done swizzle and de provision peel, dey go be coming back out and I go be settling down wid mih plate to enjoy de rest of de match.

STEUUUPSSSS...is a good thing I did get to see Hooper and dem in action yes, because I woulda vex too bad and want to mash up de TV when de rain start and de play stop before de food good settle in mih belly. But in truth it was real nice seeing Hooper and Chanders and Sarawan come good in front dey home crowd. Carl like he did save up dis one a long time and polish it jes right for display in Bourda ... de boundry look like it right by de end of de pitch is so little effort he seem to put in de shots, a real class act wid good support from de nex two homeboys. I sorry Sarawan didn't get he century, but i know it coming soon, and we bound to must get more from Chanders and Hooper too. And Brian, is what
I could say other than dey add insult to he injury...but is alright, he still have plenty fire in he belly as dey go find out. As for de bowlers, I still keeping de faith. Dey looking like we have something here, we boy Dillon and Cuffy was getting life from a dead pitch, so dey could only do better on a good one. De new boy Sanford looking real good and I feel he have plenty more in store for de rest of de series. Nagamootoo also did bowl well and even though is only one wicket he get, is Tendulkar he did get!

Between de cricket now and World Cup coming up, Tantie eyes go need some serious rest...but then again is not only de eyes dat go get a workout, because yuh know we people cyant sit down quiet and watch nuttin! Well de one benefit I could see is Tantie might lose a lil 'avoirdupois', and is who you know that doh need to shed a little?
