Tantie Talk

Well, a nex one gone by and where we be? In much de same place as we was dis time las' year, except we didn' have a 4th A.G.E. Everybody complaining as per usual...and nobody willing to stop and have a look to see what dey might possibly be able to do to help de situation(s). It still 24hrs away from de change of year, but dat ent worrying dem people who find dat fireworks is fun and doh care what happening by dey neighbours...now yuh know it going to have endless noise for a few minutes after midnight on de 31st, but when yuh have nearly a month on nightly explosions as prelude to what dese last couple of years is between 30-45 minutes of audio dat could be live and direct from Chechnya, Gaza or Sierra Leone...something gone seriously wrong.

Everywhere yuh look somebody complaining 'bout de noise, but dey ent really take a look at what going on around dem, because dey woulda see plenty dey could do instead of just complain. If it illegal to 'discharge' fireworks within de cities/towns, is how come yuh have booths selling de tings by every Mall, and in almost every shop and parlour in said cities/towns? Is where de people who buying de fireworks living? Yuh mean is de fellahs who 'gone back to de bush' up Toco side who does travel to buy fireworks in POS? Yuh right...not only dat, but yuh have 'serious' articles in de daily press, warning of de many dangers of said fireworks, on de same page wid a advert from de man selling fireworks, worse yet some of dem being described in de ads as "artillery shells"...I could only imagine what dem does sound like. What I like best is de leaflet dey handing out to people who buying de things (no, Tantie ent buy none, but I did see de leaflet)...it nicely done on yellow paper wid black stripes for de full 'caution' effect and gives guidelines about handling and storage etc. All well and good until yuh look inside de selfsame tent where dey selling de things an' yuh have to ask if money ent pass to get 'approval' because de tent have boxes of fireworks pile high up to de roof...except for de gap where de jury-rig flourescent tube dangling and rubbing on de boxes. Obviously dem people never hear or jes doh care 'bout static electricity, I only waiting to see when one of dem tents go up, hopefully dey ent go have no chirren nearby, but unfortunately it go probably have some.

I ent even get onto what de explosions doing to people and pets...dat is a whole nex setta commess. Tantie go give allyuh a tip, call yuh Vet and ask dem for Promex for yuh dogs...it does really help dem deal wid de noise. I wonder if de people who importing fireworks have parents or grandparents alive? Maybe dey all deaf or living in soundproof houses, because dey couldn' possibly be experiencing dis thing widout commenting...or maybe dey jes doh know what kinda business it is dey family involve in. Tantie hoping dat we might jes actually grow up one day and start living life here in T&T, 'back in times' like when we was growing up and chirren didn' have to worry bout anything but growing up and having fun...because dey know it have a whole street dat was parents to dem an' everybody else too, and dey cuttail was book when dey reach home because 'somebody had was to speak to dem' and make it seem like dey had no broughtupsy.

Ah well, is a whole nex year dat coming to come, hopefully it go bring all ah we good health, luck and fortune...I ent go mind at all if de Lotto decide to roll dis way, it go be a nice way to start de New Year, clear all de bills, help out some folks who worse off and drop de rest in de Unit Trust, I ent want dem banks to get a whiff of dat $6 million, but dat is a whole nex odder story.

God Bless and allyuh have a Happy and SAFE start to de New Year.

I go see allyuh nex year! :-)
