TANTIE TALK:
Dis place dey call T&T nice too bad oui. Just when yuh feel things only getting worse, yuh come across a new reason to feel good about we country. Tantie didn' go nowhere dis weekend as I did feel like a cold was trying to sneak up on mih body, so I did play safe and keep mih tail quiet. Sunday morning however, 'cabin fever' take over, so Tantie decide to go and take in de marathon finish by de Oval.

Well chile, dat was one of de bes decision Tants ever make because de lime was sweet too bad! Yuh woulda swear Independence come early dis year, fus it had people liming all de way down past Roxy roundabout and into St. James. All kinda people, all shape, size, colour, age and what-have-you did come out to support de athletes an' dem...and from what I see on de TV it look like it was so for de whole race too. Dey was wholehearted in dey support of both set of racers - it had a 5K race dat was going on same time too - but dat doh mean dat some good picong and heckle wasn't passing same time too! De Race Marshalls was doing a great job, but I have make special mention ofde set dat was between Roxy Roundabout and de Finish...dem was seriously enthusiastic! Dey did cheer on EVERYBODY in both races like if dey was coming in first. More people finish dey race feeling plenty better than dey thought dey would because of dat setta Marshalls...I ent know where dey from, but dey did real come good on Sunday.

One of de most amazing things wid a Marathon is how some people does suddenly decide dey want to do one. I ent know how many first timers it had dis year, but Tantie know of three who did finish de race including one of de younger members of de Judiciary who nobody did take serious when he say he was going to run de Marathon. When yuh consider dey was taking a good 3-4 hours of wicked hot sun and dey still manage to finish, yuh has to take yuh hat off to dem...de race winners and de odder 'serious athletes' while dey was pushing a plenty faster pace didn' have to take dat kinda heat on an unaccustomed body! Even Granny Luces look like de heat hit her hard, but she still cross de line running.

I feel I might jes try de ting one of dese years...I mean if I could do Carnival wid alcohol in de system, I might jes be able to make a
Marathon if I train wid beer as mih energy!
