Tantie Talk

Well chile, allyuh Tantie go either end up dead from Hypertension or I go be well pickle like Saltfish wid de amount of salt I has to be taking any time I read de papers or turn on de radio and TV news. If we suppose to believe everything we hearing, it mean de Pentagon GPS Satellite system get hack, and all dey sensors really pointing at T&T when dey feel dey pointing at Iraq.

I mean to say, is what do de Express to say dey publishing dat story like dat? I ent say de story ent have some kinda substance behind it, but dey coulda make it look a little less like if de reporters an dem did come up wid it one night after a bad lime wid too much good rum. Even if it true, de way it reading yuh could only react wid either panic if yuh dotish or wid a good long steups if yuh not. Dey did definitely go a lil too far wid de sensationalism, nex time allyuh doing something so is to forget de dramatics and lewwe get de facts, bore we to tears wid de dry facts please.

I not exactly sure why it is people seem to want to shut down T&T Carnival, but dat seem to be de way things going...dey even have a letter to de editor in today's papers suggesting it. All dat go do is make people afraid to come to sweet T&T and worse yet make We Trinis fraid we own shadow. Now anytime a car backfire man go be bawling as if dey get shoot, de ones who have guns go be whipping dem out looking to 'return fire' and eventually it go endup wid a setta innocent people getting shoot because everybody on edge. Even now people worrying when de see a car dey ent know...in broad daylight, worse yet when is night. I ent say yuh musn' be observant, dat should be not only easy but natural to we maccoscious Trinis, but is when like in all things yuh going overboard and starting to give paranoia a bad name yuh know is time to take stock. Yuh cyant jes lock yuhself away and pretend/hope de world outside ent really as bad as yuh think...it might very well be worse, but if yuh ent outside in it trying to find/be part of de solution, yuh only making yuhself part of de worsening problem. And is no use jes saying dat prayer is de only solution...praying go help de one doing de praying, but if yuh doh get out and put in some action time and make somebody else feel better, is bes' yuh didn' do nuttin at all.

Anyways, enough of ranting...is Carnival time an' tings waxing warm. Tantie an' de Squeeze was in QRC fete on Saturday...when I tell you it was nice! Dey does throw a real good fete yes, it have real space for partying and still have plenty room fuh de food and bar, and table and chairs to boot. De food was good as usual, but de music was real class. When Exodus and All Stars done play, people was asking how come it doh have more pan in parties. Shadow and Stalin put dong dey best as usual, but de Black Man did really steal de show when he "Come out to Party" wid Exodus backing up...dat was real sweet to bad, and he had de whole fete singing along wid he, Tantie throat still hoarse is fus ah was singing.

Never mind what people want to say, Tantie sure dis year go be a real nice Carnival...we have some nice music and de onliest thing I really worried about is de weather. It shaping up do be a real hot and dry season, so allyuh watch yuselves when yuh partying, doh get dehydrated and be extra careful where yuh throwing dat cigarette and match, we need to have dem trees and bush for when de rains come back or else is more flood.

Take care and enjoy
