Tantie Talk

So, is when we going to finally put ah end to de 'farse' dat playing out on Marli Street? Is long time we getting treat like animal, lining up to beg fuh 'visay', and if dat wasn' enough now we cyant even drive dong WE own street when we want, only when dem people (who suppose to be guest in WE country) decide is OK.

Everybody vex an' talking, but nuttin' doing, I ent too suprise, because dat is how we does be. But I feel it really have a nex reason why tings ent change - people feel dey go get arrest if dey maove de barriers or put dong a macco big protest in front de place. I doh blame dem, because de way tings stand not even WE police could drive dong de street widout dem people say-so...if dat doh make yuh stop short, I ent know what will. But de ting is when yuh talk to legal folks, all ah dem saying de same ting - dey ent have nutting in de law dat preventing we from travelling on WE street, is only de fact dat we too easy going dat have dem barriers still in place. What we need now is for dem to stand up in public and state de facts, so we de ordinary citizens of T&T could know exactly where WE stand wid WE laws, in WE country.

AND, if dat wasn' enough, yuh wake up yesterday feeling nice 'bout we bwoys an' how dey starting to look like a real cricket team instead of a nex pick-up side....and what go hit yuh but de Guardian front page talking 'bout how one ah WE get "shackled, handcuffed and deported" from de US in 2003 because he did stay in dem country for 6 months in 1984/85. OK, yuh say when yuh start to read de ting, he did overstay de time dey give him and 20 years later when he gone back dey say no...but what doh make no kinda sense is dat dis wasn't de first time he went back since 1984!

It does only begin to make a lil bit of sense if yuh think of dis year as being 1984 a la Orwell. Joke is joke, yes we understan' allyuh paranoid, but is nobody but yuhself to blame fuh dat so is why yuh have to make de whole damnn world suffer wid you? If dem want to start dem kinda restrictions maybe we an' de rest of de world should reciprocate. It does get better...today's Guardian have a story 'bout a nex man who did get jack-up an' treat like a dog - but den again I sure dey does treat dog better. What real puzzling in dis case is de man say he doh have no history wid dem. He have a valid 10 year 'visay', an' he travelling fuh de first time to visit he family but he only have US$100 in he pocket, so dey feel he "come to stay" an' telling him he tantie ent go support he an' give he no money. Even if dey did feel dat was de case, an' dey did check out he family (at least I hope dey did), dey had was to throw he in jail fuh 5 days AND cancel de visay too? But I suppose dem was lucky, even though dey was in chains, at least dey was in a 'real jail', an' dey didn' get dump in a 'facility' like de dog pound where dey have people (from Afghanistan) lockup in Guantanamo...in case yuh did miss de story is 'bout 6 months now dat Amnesty International calling on dem to charge de people or release dem...dey have 'bout 600 prisoners from 40 different country lockup for almost a year and a half an' dey cyant see no lawyers nor dey family, because dey ent classified as Prisoners of War but as 'unlawful combatants'.

A real nice lil "legal black hole" is what dat is, and what making de whole ting even more worse is dat it now coming to light dat dem recent actions an' Iraq in particular was incited and instigated under false pretences! Lemme explain what I mean before allyuh really think I gone of fuh sure dis time. De intelligence community (de spies an dem) raising a stink because of de way dey work get seriously warped and distorted before it get presented to not only de American public, but de main man Dubya himself! De so vex dat de intelligencedey wuk hard to obtain get used to start de war when it wasn' necessary dat dey

"formed a group, Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, that wrote to President Bush this month to protest what it called "a policy and intelligence fiasco of monumental proportions."

Go check de New York Times of Friday May 30th for de rest of de article:

Save Our Spooks by Nicholas D. Kristof

So, because somebody wid a agenda decide to distort some information and lie boldface to de President & Citizens of de USA, it come to pass dat WE, de Citizens of de Republic of Trinidad & Tobago still cyant traverse a lil street in WE capital city because dem people Embassy happen to be on it... is what woulda happen if dey did ketch 2-3 Trini in Afghanistan?

BACKCHAT: Issue 20

Yuh could tell me what wrong wit' dem boys in de House? A man on the gov't benches tells one of the Opposition members - who broke the protocol by talking to the Speaker from his seat - to stand up when addressing the Speaker. This causes the Opposition member to launch into a tirade about who is who "massah"?!?!? IN 2003, TANTS?! If Mr Mark feels that this warranted the disruption of the House - FOR A WHOLE WEEK! - then obviously he must have one of the biggest complexes in T&T. A fine example of a big man with nothing between his ears and nothing to contribute to the development of his country.
