Tantie Talk

Fus' to begin, I bong to mus arks allyuh once more to make sure yuh keep yuh anti-virus sorfwares updated...it seem dat a whole setta people who getting Trinidiary doh have any anti-virus sorfware or dey ent update it since it was install de fus time! Fuh de last week or so I getting one setta funny-curious email wid all kinda people business expose - no, is not dat kinda business dat expose, is dey business an' dey personal email dat getting copy from 'pon dey computer an' getting broadcast to de world, or at least de people who email address dey have in dey address book. Check fuh de updates at de website, but yuh shouldn' even have to do dat because de sorfware does have ah automagic update thingy yuh could set to wuk by itself, so yuh doh have to try an' remember to check it. An' if yuh doh have any kinda anti-virus sorfware, yuh could always check Opus (http://www.opus.co.tt/spamkiller.htm), because dey having a special dat not only giving yuh anti-virus sorfware, but yuh getting anti-SPAM sorfware too.

De nex ting, is how come I open de papers dis morning (Tuesday) an' seeing one setta picture of helicopter in de air dropping water on a statue to bless it? Doh get me wrong, I ent have no problem wid de Ashram or de statue itself, what I want to know is how come it suddenly have not only *WORKING* Bambi Buckets, but helicopters to use dem?! Where de #%*$! dey was over de las' 2-3 months when we hillsides was burnin' up? All day an' night acres of precious vegetation was burnin' free sheet, de onliest time yuh seeing any activity to out dem is if it have a road nearby dat de fire engine could drive up an' if de hoses was long enough. Again, I doh have no problem wid dem using it to consecrate de murti, but if dat is all dey go use it for, I seriously feel de Canadian Gov't should jes take back de damn tings. But, yuh know what is de worse ting 'bout de whole mess? Is dat it been going on like dis for more than 12 years! If yuh feel ah lie, go read 'bout it fuh yuhself in de Parliamentary records:

http://www.ttparliament.org/hansard/House/1991/hh910628.pdf

Poor Mac Copeland retire from de Fire Service, dead and gone...an' to dis day de Bambi Buckets dat he help bring to T&T ent get use to out one single solitary bushfire...I hoping somebody could prove mih wrong, but I ent lorsin' no sleep waiting on dat.

But say what...we like it so, God is a Trini, an' all we studying is how, when an' where we go fete dong de place during de holiweek dat coming up.

BACKCHAT: Issue 21

Your mail is great. I love to get it, I am able to keep up with all the events around T&T all the time. I have to say that I agree with you that we all arrived in Trinidad. I actually came over from England as the wife of a Trini quite a few years ago. I think though, that if one section of our country still celebrates its arrival here that this should not be seen as a threat to Trinidadianess. Trinis make their mark here nd everywhere else in the world. I think that it is admirable that people can still hold on to thier wonderful and rich culture after all these years and be proud of it and still be Trinidadians to the bone.

Tantie , well done I commend you on this article on these people who apparently are running our country more than our government. Aside from these poor guys being victimised on entering the US a lot of Trinis with isalamic names and backgrounds are being denied Visas and also being victimised by customs and immigration in the States. And yet we allow these people to live free, eat and drink and some of us worship them. As a businessman I am appalled and also scared that I have not travelled to the US in over a year although I have suppliers there and contribute to the US economy by purchasing goods and services. Maybe I should look for another source because if my People aren't good enough for the US and they get this treatment well maybe my MONEY isn't either.

Thank you so very much. It is always good to be able to take a few minutes to read and reflect and think of good days of Trini. I miss the place and all that goes with it. Take care and keep up the good news so we so far away can learn and grow while away.

London calling. My Back Chat concerns stories in the net news with regard to Mr. Panday saying that whilst in power there were 89 deaths in a year and his prediction of 200 deaths this year under the PNM. Can Mr Panday now predict death? Did he in his time, have more control over de death-rate than he had over de Airport over spend and de road paving Carlos? When de taxpayers $52 million went missing? And dey say, he say, he dint notice nutting? If Mr Panday can now predict death, de man has missed his calling. He could make a lot more that $10 million doing some soothsaying. When I fly into Piarco, yuh gyul wearing a cork hat because ah hear de ceiling tiles fallin.

Just a big up to mi girl Faye at the Ms. Universe pageant held recently. The girl looked good and I was representing mi country because everytime she come out ah was bawling and screaming. I did not fancy the evening dress too much. I found it was a bit too much. In my opinion she should have made it to the top five. I guess they did not take points out for when Ms.South Africa nearly fall on she face on when Ms.Canada made a stumble. Any ways, Trinidad should be proud of Faye because she did a really good job.
