Tantie Talk
Well, well, well...is like Trini suddenly get de veil lifted from dey eyes.
Suddenly everybody an dey Nennen calling fuh action on "We Street", an' yes,
even de Gov't too! What a ting...Small Island Pride like he real
gettin' bouf from all quarters, even from a website of "TTAmericans" who did vex
because dey didn' get invite to de big bash at de Country Club on Friday.
Me ent know what he or de Embassy or de staff do dem people, but I know fuh
sure dat de man who put up de website done get contact 'bout it...because
if Tantie could search de 'Net an' find out who own de website, yuh know
dat Marli St. bong to mus' be able to do it too...unless dey really in a bad
way. Hmmm, dat could explain why dey does be acting so - dem jes behbeh!
But mere dotishness cyant account for de as of yet unexplained actions of
said embassy staff on Thursday, when after Ambassador S.I.P. met wid
Minister S.H.I.T.F. to talk 'bout de suspension of military aid to T&T
(an' other countries dat doh want to kowtow to dem over de ICC), journalists
from de Express an' TV6 went to de Savannah opposite de Embassy to complete
dey story wid de Embassy as de backdrop. Fus' to begin is like dey did
sic dey local pothound security guard on dem...de man leff whey he was,
cross de Savannah traffic an' come to standup in front de people camera,
blocking dem from doing dey wuk. He move to behind de reporter an continue
harassin' de people including being "verbally abusive" as reported by de
Express on page 3 of de Friday edition. But, (an' dis is a macco BIG BUT)
as dem said Yankee people does say on de infomercials, Wait, there's more!
...while all dis was happening, an' lemme quote de Express verbatim here:
"As this continued, an employee from the US State Department came out of the Embassy, came across the street and, using a digital camera, photographed the four media workers."
Now obviously dis mus be a prime working example of Dubya style Democracy
in action, because we jes cyant understan' it at all...it could only be dat
de pictures was taken so dat de media workers could not possibly in any way
be mis-identified and/or mistaken for some of dey odder colleagues in de media
when eventually Small Island Pride or one of de lesser diploids contact dem
to apologise for not having kept dey pothound(s) on a shorter leash.

Really have to agree with Trini Music Fan and his/her point regarding music
on-hold @ state agencies. That is all part of this lil brand called T&T
that everyone should embrace and it should start from the top down.
//Cayman Islands
I agree with this Trini Music Fan. Trini tax dollars should go to supporting Trini musicians whenever music opportunities arise,
and especially on government "on hold" recordings and sweet pan would be ideal. Pan is the national instrument.

Thanks for a very informative newsletter. It's especially good for we folks
up here in de cole. Well it hot like hell in Hotlanta, but anyway talkin
about all dis security in sweet T & T. How come dey still have all dem
blockages an ting dere and here, weh de ting really happen, dey doh seem to
be so security conscious any more instead of de airports whch could cause you
to miss yuh flight. Go figure!
//Atlanta. USA
Security does not mean Safety. Re: 2b Marli Street. Could any of us, island
governments that is, go up to Independence Avenue, or Constitution Ave in
Washington, D.C. and cordon off a street? If you don't walk fast when you
in DC they'll have to send you home in a pine box. It is time the government of
TnT, both in and out of opposition, find their collective COJONES and liberate
Marli street, to return it to the people who are its rightful owners. The ground
the Embassy is on, is regarded as US soil, but in no way should we allow them to
co-opt a street and inconvenience the Church and its parishioners. They
have more brass than Brasso! Run them!
//Hotmail.com
You were saying in your july 1 issue that its within 2 months since sept 11
and you still have not got your street back. You my dear woman seem to be the
only one upset about this and if this be the case then tantie must rise up and call
the people to rally while she leads them on a mission to reclaim the
street...you tantie you must become the leader and get the street back
