Tantie Talk
I jes had was to share dis one wid allyuh...definitely required reading,
make dat 'course of study' for anybody who feel dey want to be in politics.
An' while we on de topic, we have to note de passing of Senator Arnim
Smith, who nobody could dispute gave all he could fuh pan...dey go miss him bad.
============
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common
Sense who has been with
us for many years. No one knows for sure how old she was since her birth records were long ago lost in
bureaucratic red tape. She will be remembered as having cultivated
such valued lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why
the early bird gets the worm and that life isn't always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don't spend more
than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids,
are in charge).
Her health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were
set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens
suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher
fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened her condition.
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental
consent to administer aspirin to a student but could not inform the
parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Finally, Common sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments
became contraband, churches became businesses and criminals received
better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the
ghost after a woman failed to realize that a hot steaming cup of coffee
was hot, spilled it in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by her parents, Truth and Trust, her
spouse, Discretion; her daughter, Responsibility; and her son, Reason.
She is survived by two stepbrothers: My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many
attended her funeral because so few realized she was gone.
If you still remember her pass this on.

BACKCHAT: Issue 44
I see you talking about the Government phone numbers etc. MP's and so
on, and how difficult (impossible?) it is at the best of times to reach
the people you supposed to be able to reach, seeing that they are "public servants". Well, for producing and maintaining that information
alone you could start to charge some real advertising dollars. I don't
know if you charge to advertise, I assume you do, but I'm pretty sure
it should be more than it is - at least a Ministers salary for you each
month - as you seem to do more to keep the citizenry and dem informed
and thinking than ANY one of the current crop of dullards, sycophants et
al., not even to mention them psychos (one in particular) on the other side.
Keep up the good work!!

"This is in response to the person who thinks that Patrick Manning, is
dividing our beautiful country into racial divides...."
(Backchat Vol 4 .. Issue 44)
I really enjoy your newsletter but I have to say publishing Backchat
comments such as the one I have highlighted in this issue is really
unnecessary and frankly reduces your credibility when you are commenting
(directly or indirectly) about people who talk about racial division.
I don't have any love for Panday any more than you but is it in the
interests of racial harmony that you should add fuel to a fire we don't
need in this island where we all have to live together? Why don't you
keep to your good coverage of events and promoting charitable events
instead of becoming a web politician? From a practical point of view you are losing at least half your
readership when you make racio-political comments - against EITHER side
of the so-called racial divide - which, by the way, is only in the minds
of people if you put it there. God created good people first and foremost
as kids. It is not our job as responsible adults to make them suspicious
and hostile to one another using a race card, which as I have pointed our,
does not increase your readership but does just the opposite! Apologies for being so direct with you, but I really want to continue being
a reader, but not if you have some other agenda.

Hi tants: One of these days you'll have to rename this paper Bacchanal
Plus! You asking people
for numbers that work? you crazy or what? Anyhow, I like the sentence about..."we the people, in whose employ they
happen to be...." Now, tants, you know you drink some bad tisane before
you dream up that sentence. It was truly funny..
Keep the weekly laughs coming. We hear blowing the fallen maple leaves
and stuffing them in brown paper bags for the city to pick up on Monday.
Oye, ma back killin me.

Tomorrow Nov. 14th ah will will be 51. I thought of ah way to transfer
all de attention of dis birthday boy to you for de fine job you are doing
for Trinis world wide...But den I thought of de excitment dat meh birthday
seem to bring to close friends and family members. Suddenly ah feel glad
that there wasn't a way to give away meh glory. Instead, I will thank God
publicly for all his goodness as ah share de blessings of yet another year
with you and all yuh readers.
