TANTIE TALK - Tuesday 27 March 2007 Volume 8 Issue 13

So, de ting done an' gone from T&T...it safe to use de 'words' yet? It go
be a long time before dey could top dis setta first round matches fuh sheer
gumption, determination an' testicular fortitude in de case of Bangladesh,
Ireland an' Sri Lanka...an' de near total lack of it from India & Pakistan.

But then again, dis game dey does call cricket sometimes jes doh ever play
de way yuh expectin' it to...case in point de Woolmer story dat have all
man Jack more confuffle than if Lara did open de bowling fuh all de teams
in de tournament. All I could say is dat is a damn good ting it didn'
happen in T&T, because we done have enough on we plate as it is. I hope
it get sort out sooner than later because it mus' be hell fuh de family,
an' de West Indies as a whole an' Jamaica in particular doh need dat
hangin' around fuh one second longer than necessary. So far, it seem
dat de ting actually comin' off kinda smoothly wid only a couple or three
lil hiccup along de way.

De real test only now start, wid de rains playin' hide an' seek an' one
setta story floatin' round de place 'bout if de Guyana Stadium ready or
not...I sure de ICC folks an' dem doin' Sun Dance every day, twice a day,
in between prayers. Hopefully de drainage in de new place plenty better
than in Bourda where dey does actually have guabine an' tadpole swimmin'
on de field when de rain fall heavy. But what I really want to know is
who buyin' ticket in Guyana? If even is only US$25 to enter de grounds,
dat is still 'bout GY$5000...an' it ent have too many folks in Guyana dat
could spend dat kinda money on entry fee an' then start to spend on food
an' drink. When yuh look at dem match dat was playin' in St. Kitts an'
St. Lucia, de most noticible ting odder than de many empty seats, was dat
so many seats dat was occupied had school chirren in dem. Is who pay fuh
dem seats? An' here in de Oval on Friday wid de India/Sri Lanka game is
fus it had empty seat even though dey was claimin' de match did sell out.
I ent know who foolin' who, but is like Dickens did write de script fuh
de event is so dey had Great Expectations...

An speakin' of great expectations, in de nex matchup I waitin' to see jes
what kinda spin de Gov't side go be sendin' down to Sat now dat he get back
de captaincy...dey have plenty 'players' dat custom to silly position, but
is like dem ent sure which way to face when de ball bowl an' then dey not
only appealin' but dey callin' fuh over almost before de bowler start to
runup an' bowl. De only ting dat have more bacchanal to come is de bwoys
in FIFA tryin' to get dey money back from Jackson & Co...I seein' plenty
substitutes to come in dat match.

BACKCHAT: Issue 12

Tants,

When are you going to be putting up the scoreboard in Woodford Square? It's
a great idea, don't let it go to waste! We must learn to track the promises
and the deliveries! And pick up the gaping holes that the politicians don't
want us to examine.

And please, somebody tell the people that Panday was not found innocent of
the charges! The man still has serious questions to answer. I am quietly
hoping that Ramesh get through and Panday don't have to go back in the dock
to take many months and plenty tax payers money to argue double jeapordy.
Instead let him loose on the political platform and let's ask him where he
got the $11 million TT in the bank account, and why Oma went to such
lenghts to hide it?

And also, can Mikela tell us whose money was used to keep her in style in
London, and why the children of cane farmers weren't good enough for her
to associate with.

Re:March Madness to showcase Jazz at the DMPI
Before you bring a spoon and look for a bottle, let me tell you that
these people are operating with out permission in a very residential
area and like everything else in Trinidad it is going to take time to
stop them.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for promoting our culture. I like pan and
soca and everything trinbagonian, however people have to realise that
residential areas are not places to have these events, and they should be
more considerate of their neighbours. Also these events do not end at
12.00 a.m. as advertised. We also have to look at the security risks.
These events are publicly advertised and there is money involved (both
for entrance and food and drink).

How come no one has events like this in Fairways, St. Clair, Federation
Park or Westmoorings? Our area is just as much a residential area as
these places. I am so fed up with inconsiderate people.
