TANTIE TALK - Tuesday 10 April 2007 Volume 8 Issue 15

Well look at my crosses...de mark well buss, mouth open an' tory jump out.
Is like de CWC folks did well study FIFA to make sure dey did go one better, because what comin' out now have a very familiar tone...one major UK based tour operator did get preferential treatment, tickets 'sold out' but plenty seat still available in nearly every game. Is when we go ever learn?

Most appropriately it come out at Easter dat we sell we souls fuh 2-3 piece of silver dat gettin' less an' less wid each counting. De take was suppose to be in de region of US$500 million accordin' to de "talkers", but now we hearin' dat if dey see $100 million dey do great...if dey do anywhere dem numbers I feel it go be in Guyanese dollars! Why it is de Caribbean did get press-ganged into acceptin' dese restrictions an' conditionalities? I keep lookin' to see when Captain Jack Sparrow and de resta de Black Pearl crew goin' to make dey appearance, is fus dis lookin like a nex movie  in de series: Pirates of The Caribbean 2007 - Colonizing With Cricket.

De Jamaica Gov't invest/spend over US$100 million on CWC 2007, in de hope of favourable returns over de nex few years...is where dat investment be now? Here in T&T we spend plenty much money on de Tsunami Shelter dat as far as I could tell still ent finish an' ent likely to finish any time soon. Barbados, Guyana, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, Grenada, Antigua, St. Vincent...all man put out plenty much money because dey get 'promised' great riches flowing in. It mus be have a couple people in each country dat seein' some money, but overall is no way, no how dat de expectations go be met. Who foot go be dere when time fuh 'blame' come? Who head go roll? Not de Golden Child Dehring...I wonder jes how much he 'earn' up front? All who was waitin' on ad revenue from de Indian/Pakistani TV audiences had best take a seat an' get real comfy.

Dis CWC2007 fiasco go make a fascinating story one day, I hope somebody at UWI decide to research it properly so future generations doh make de same mistakes dotish mistakes...if dey be mistakes dat is. Some folks have somewhat stronger views of de whole ting an' a quick search go find plenty views an' opinions from all quarters. I givin' allyuh a couple articles to start off:

Dis one from de Daily Telegraph in de UK: http://tinyurl.com/2yde3j
Dis one from a Blog called Barbados Free Press: http://tinyurl.com/29u8r8

Well yes, allyuh real find yuh voice dis time, if allyuh keep de backchat comin' so strong I ent go have no space to write! ;-) Glad to see yuh still readin' yuh Tantie...

Please note that the system does still work. If you look in today's
papers, the AG, the Chief Magistrate and all, got licks from the Court of
Appeal. There is hope for us yet! In other Caribbean countries, the Chief
Magistrate would simply never be called to testify, the Chief Justice would
never EVER be taken to court and as for the Attorney General.....long ago
someone would have been quietly knifed in the back and left for dead.
Here, at least, we fight things out in the Court.

Well this perspective is sooooo true. I really wish we coulda vote "None of
the Above" since it eh have no alternative. I tort Dooks was ah real
option,
but since he let de "mortars in de waters" man align himself wid him, I eh
too sure now. But it sad though, cause is we who take de s*#@+! fuh all
dese
years and it come like how it suppose to be now. But ah real like de talk.
Yuh re-he-he-he-el talk dey, Tantie!

Amen !!! I say Amen Tantie: let us begin to think globally as well as
insularly.

I want to disagree with you though and say that the soap opera must be
followed closely. Society must demand clear and cogent answers from all
persons who are being paid from the public purse. It would seem that our
bureaucratic system is designed to frustrate us because of the long delays
and inevitable twists and turns before dealing with the substantive
issues -
and causes us to give up in disgust and frustration. The result then is
persons like Panday and Oma continues to dominate our politics and laugh
openly at our values, and Manning would win the next election to continue
to sign multi-million dollar contracts which brings more harm to our
country
than good with impunity.

I agree with you that we need to look closely at the next batch of
people who
are elected to manage our affairs for the next five years. However, would
persons not of the ilk of Mr Panday and Mr Manning join the electoral
fray in
the context of our political culture. I think not. We have to shame these
politicians into a modicum of values and integrity before being able to
attract persons of such ilk. I too would like an explanation of where Mr
Panday got his money from his London bank account.

With all the nonsense going on in this country, why is everyone seems to be
hung up on Mr. Panday and his wife, now it seems his children. Where his
wife parked her vehicle, who his friends are, be it rich business men here
or abroad. What is it about Mr. Panday that we cling to his every move and
sneeze. It is really amazing. What we need to concentrate on is the
government that has been in office for the last few years and the state of
our country with all the petrodollars. Lets see who Mr. Manning's friends
are, whose private jets he flies on, be it to Spain or wherever. Where
does Mr. Manning's children go to school? Not very long ago there where stories
he could not pay his mortgage (thanks to Mr. Saith) or so they say.

Take a good hard look at Mr. Manning and his government and the way the have
been spending tax payers money over the last few years. I have to wonder if
Mr. Panday is right when he asks "What a they afraid off". Amazing!!!!!

Well worth the wait - thanks for the keen analysis.

To "Regular Reader", there's supposed to be an apostrophe after the "s" in
"tax payers". Just thought you'd like to know, since you spoke earlier of
having good writing skills. Trini without blinkers.
