Is why we feel
we have to always prove we self against some furrin ting?
Is de same ting everytime some world class star come to perform we
does have to tun de ting into some kinda shootout to show dat how we
feel we better.
And we does never learn because we does ramajay we self and trow
duss in dey face and say 'ah boy...yuh see how we mash dem up'
And den we does go right back where we was in second place to start
again.
Fuss it had Mr. Akon and de Pastor daughter. I feel nuff did say
bout dat little madam by now, but when de video ah she and Ghetto
Flex surface yuh realise dat is long years she in dis slackness. So
yuh have to aks where she family was when she was growing up because
is not no 'mistake' she mek sneaking into Zen. I want to know who
adult signature on de model release contract for dat video, but I
jes old and choopid.
So after all de grand charge from Patos down to de Police
Commissioner over Akon and Danah, and dey close dong Zen for a
afternoon de story come out dat Mr. Machel and he posse had was to
have some bachannal in de same place. I ent see no video on de net
yet ah wha happen dey but we done know dat some fella get beat and
everyone looking to pass bucks.
De Cricket finally done, I ent know who was still paying attention
as India and Pakistan long tun off de radiogram and yuh know dat we
people wasn't going where it ent have no grog. But de ICC couldn't
leave it alone. No dey had was to turn de ting into a night cricket
game wid dem boys fielding wid a flambeau in one hand.
De ting run over to Tobago and Diana Ross get orn because she say
dat dey cut she set on de stage because Destra sing too long. Me ent
know who sing long and who sing short, but in de world ah
international concerts dem ting does get plan down to de second by
de lawyers before dem singer even step on de stage. So is like we
poops again.
But why is always de wrong ting we does feel we have to show dat we
badder dan bad?
It have all kinda problems wid crime and police and water and
electricity and education and smelter but Patos have time to run he
mout on Akon and Danah! Chuts Man!
But we like it so. All dem tings does be a godsend to Patos in
trute. De nation ent tekking on nutten no more - dem have all kinda
mauvais langue to talk about instead of de real stories dat we
should be dealing wid.
Is since when we ever did care about de age of who going in de bar,
rumshop, or club? Is since when we did care about who driving drunk
on de road?
Is when we go wake up and realise dat dem is de tings dat does
define we as a Nation. And dat changing dem does mean some real
change in how we does all behave as citizens.

BACKCHAT: Issue 08: Vol 17
Tantie,
I went into a bookstore and took a look at the Guinness World
Records 2007 edition. When I looked up the cricket records I did not
see any mention of the highest individual test score - 400 not out
by B.C. Lara.
Now I wondered why this was. Then I realized this score was made
against England. Is this why one of the greatest ever cricket
achievements has been left out of the book that chronicles all great
world achievements?
Hmmmm.
Then as far as our politricks go. It is time our younger generation
got up and started a new party of their own. All of us 20 - 40 year
olds need to do like the old PNM did. Start the new thinking with
ourselves.
Do not depend on the old leadership to solve the present day issues.
Times have changed and the political parties of the 50's and 60's
are not changing with them. Their only concern is to fill their
pockets so they can retire nicely. We need another grass roots
movement with new ideas and philosophies that have the people and
well being of the country as the center of their concern.

Tants,
So what if a pastor's daughter wants to get up on stage and wine?
How many young women...I'm sure there may have been a lot of minors
involved, went up on stage with Machel in the past and wined down to
the ground on him, behind him, in front of him and upside down too!
I have even seen with my own eyes women touching his crotch on stage
and he did not seem to mind. This is a society of mixed up values.
Is the true problem the fact that she was a minor or was it the fact
that she was dancing in a lewd manner, or was it the fact that Akon
flung her around like a rag-doll? I'm confused. At the end of the
day it does not matter whose daughter she was, whether a professor,
a gardener or a pastor. She was underage and allowed to enter the
club, possibly because she looks like a mature, young woman. There
is no excuse for Zen, they should have been more stringent in the
checking of IDs. Akon was rough with her, but then again at Carnival
time, this happens a lot on stage (and off!).
This is just another one of those incidents that makes us go hmmmm
and then move on to the next sensational story of the day. At the
end of all of this, I truly believe that the young lady will think
twice before repeating what she did. Let us move forward and deal
with the more pressing matters at hand. After all...it is an
election year.
