Well de rain
like it reach in trute and like it wash out all de tings dat ah did
had in mind. Dat have to be a good ting because it have so much dat
deserve to try and forget and pretend dat it ent happen here.
Ah mean ah know dat all over de world it have all kinda bachannal
but somehow when ting does happen in dis little Trinidad and Tobago
it does seem to be bigger dan anywhere else.
Ah mean how big men like de Chief Justice and de Chief Magistrate
could be playing tit-for-tat like dey still in shortpants in de
schoolyard? If we cyar look to dem fellas for some decorum and
respect. But is like we jes cyar find no heroes.
And when we have heroes we doh seem to know what to do wid dem. So
we does turn dem into some kinda pappyshow.
Imagine dat de Soca Warriors still trying to get a fair share of de
FIFA dullahs from de World Cup. Dem boys have to go to court to even
get a chance to see de books. And yuh done know dat when dey see dem
books it go have even more ole talk about how de books write up.
Doh mind what people want to say about Brian Lara but yuh cyar deny
how much runs he score. It doh matter if he play as Captain or not,
but we do de same ting in reverse to him. De politrickians rush to
shake he hand and give he gifts but none ah dem gifts help Lara in
he life or he development.
We rush to throw fete for everyone who show a little talent on de
World Stage. But like de moment we realise dat de best ah dem does
be in de ting fuh de long run and need we support when dey lorse
too.
So we does enter de continous cycle of we best and brightest have to
pack up and go furrin to get de support fuh dey talents. All de
while we jes putting on a nex coat ah paint on de country.
De government put up some pretty, pretty pictures round de Savannah
showing all kninda Arts Centre and Carnival Centre, but yuh know how
it go get look after. Jes pass by de Hasely Crawford and see how de
roof peeling back and de flag shredding.
But dat is how we living now. We doh need to take care of nutten no
more, Tings bound to fix in de future...somehow.
So all de while we have Heroes dat doh get no recognition. It have
Teachers who does go to school everyday. Dey does try hard to teach
chirren who parents tell dem dat dey do need to wuk.
It have Police who does try to help children everyday. Dem is de
children who feel dat dey ent have no future in dis world. Dem is de
ones who does snap and kill all de classmates.
Well yuh get de idea. De real heroes we need to look up to is we
neighbours who does call out when dey see someone strange in de
road.
Dem is de ones who does make de world work. And de sooner we start
to rely on we neighbours de better we country go be!
