TANTIE TALK - Tuesday 21 August 2007 Volume 8 Issue 34

So, Boyo decide to call a early budget an' everybody vex because dey wasn'
expectin' it. But we shoulda really see dat one comin' de way how he was only hedgin' when people ask him 'bout de election date.

Three hours an' 43 billion dullahs later, de usual suspects did get roll out an' parade like some fancy fashion show (de models an' de clothes real pretty, pretty...but you, me an' de resta plebs know we ent go never see dem ting hangin' in we press). De best we could hope for is somebody make a cheap knockoff lookalike dat we go fool weself wid an' feel we in tings.

I well glad dat ole age pension increase, but is to be seen if dat go be enough de way de price of everyting only going up an' up. Ah mean to say, even if dey done start to plant in all de new farm he announce, nuttin ent go be ready fuh we to eat here or export fuh plenty weeks if not months to come...so is what happenin' in de mean time? An' wid de way de weather goin' I ent so sure anyting gettin' plant in a hurry either!

I ent care how much he deny it an' no matter which politrikian from whichever team did deliver it dey woulda all punch de same buttons to ensure we 'remember' which way to vote. But even wid all de 'largesse' dat seemingly flowin' to de masses, it have a couple or three spanner in de works - de fus' one name Hurricane Dean. Is where de fundin' fuh restoration an'
repair in de resta de Caribbean comin' from? Yes, Tio Hugo go be front an' centre wid help, but yuh know dat Patos an' dem cyant let he grab all de spotlight, an' go be playin' deyself wid 'promises' aplenty.

As we on de topic of natural an' other disasters, it go be extremely interestin' to say de least if somebody could come up wid how much it is dat hurricanes cost de Caribbean region over de last 45 years an' compare it wid de amounts dat cyant be accounted for an' jes plain get waste by politrikians over de same period. We always sayin' how God is a Trini an'
dat is why hurricane doh affect we. He give de resta de Caribbean hurricanes, an' we get politrikians. But when yuh really think about it, jes maybe de hurricanes was de better deal.

Tants, Totally agree with your article today also with "Trini wit'
attitude" and "Yuh get meh drift?". We really need to put aside all the
nonsense and race talk and concentrate on doing what is good for our
country and all its citizens.
