What is love?
We talk all de time 'bout T&T not havin' no love, de place not like
it used to be longtime etc etc. But when yuh come dong to brass
tacks, is exactly what dat simple lil word does mean to we?
It have fraternal, platonic, sexual, romantic, passionate, altruism
an' plenty more variation an' combination than yuh would think. So
is what dey mean when de say we ent have no love in dis place? I
arksin' dis because it occur to me when a couple who was married fuh
nearly 60 years did die within de space of one month...now dat is
serious love when yuh cyant live widout somebody who ent yuh own
flesh an' blood an' jes pine away. Is how come humans could be
capable of dat kinda intense love an' yet dey could kill in cold
blood supposedly in de name of love?
How come some cultures could show more 'love', compassion an' carin'
fuh pets than fuh dey elderly humans? Is what kinda short circuit in
de brain could make big hardback man an' woman want to 'love'
chirren like if dey was adults? Where it is de One Love an' Unity
dat politrikians conjure up does come from an' vanish to? Is only in
de name of God, dat man does do more things than in de name of love,
an' yet more often than not tings done in both names does usually be
atrocities...why we be so?
So, is where we stand as individual humans when we talk 'bout love?
What is de level of love for de humans we watchin' everyday, but not
really seein'?
When a ole person stoppin' a taxi an' de driver doh take dem on
because he ent want de hassle of waitin' while dey get in de car, is
how many go insist he/she stop fuh dem? Is when last yuh think 'bout
de people standin' in de rain on de roadside when yuh swooshin' past
in yuh car an' splashin' water all over dem?
Lewwe start small, learn to like weselves as humans once more an'
then move on to we family, friends an' neighbours...before long we
jes might realise dat every day could easily be Eid/Diwali/Christmas
Day an' we go fully unnerstan' what love really is.
