TANTIE TALK - Tuesday 21 March Volume 7 Issue 12

  TANTIE TALK:
"Curiouser and curiouser!" cried Alice...poor chile, if only she did know 'bout T&T she woulda find Wonderland wasn' too bad at all! Dat book have some real nice passages dat suit dis place so sweet I has to wonder if in fact Charles Lutwidge Dodgson wasn' a time traveller...

"I quite agree with you," said the Duchess; "and the moral of thatis--Be what you would seem to be--or if you'd like it put more
simply--Never imagine yourself not to be otherwise than what itmight appear to others that what you were or might have been was
not otherwise than what you had been would have appeared to themto be otherwise."

Or to put it a nex odder way - if yuh cyant dazzle dem wid brilliance, baffle dem wid bullsh*t. Which brings us to FIFA. Dem bwoys an' dem ent play dey know how to play dey game good oui...an' when I say bwoys is because yuh does have to look real hard to find a female in de upper echelons of FIFA, yuh know if dey did have women in de Executive dat none of dis bacchanal woulda be takin' place. It ent have no women involve in any big time committee like finance an' internal audit an' emergency dat we bwoy Jackson most present on, an' when yuh see a picture of de executive committee yuh swear is a casting session fuh MIB III is so is only black suit in de place.

So, Jackson get 'cleared' by he bwoys an' dem accordin' to de full page ad dat was in de Sunday papers...dat is easily de most obscene gesture yet by de lubricious one an' it might well come back to haunt him in time. I jes love de wordin' of de ad, it serilosly slick...an' if FIFA demself didn'
have a Media Release on dey website, it mighta jes slip pass. Fuh allyuh who ent see de ad, lemme give yuh de text verbatim:

Jack Warner Cleared By FIFA
Character Assassination Attempt Fails

Despite politically motivated charges against the name and character of jack warner, the FIFA Vice President, has been
officially cleared by the FIFA Executive Committee. Mr. Warner had invited FIFA to investigate his relationship with Simpaul
Travel Service after articles alleged a conflict of interest existed between his ownership of the travel agency and the allocation of
tickets to the World Cup. In an effort to dismiss the appearence of any conflict of interest Mr. Warner had resigned from the Board of
Directors of Simpaul, divested his ownership interests and terminated all employment and economic relationships between
Simpaul and himself. Mr. Warner stressed that this action was being taken only to address any possible interpretation that he
stood to benefit from his position as Vice President of FIFA and that of owner of Simpaul Travel and not as a result of any gain
made from his holding the two positions. FIFA has agreed with Mr. Warner's actions and ruled the matter closed.

It is not expected that the malicious intent of certain so-called sports writers will be satisfied by the official clearing of the
Warner name, however, and they can be expected to perpetuate the story to achieve their own political ends.

In the meantime, the first round of Operation Get Jack Warner has failed...nodoubt there will be other rounds to follow.

Interesting, because if yuh check de FIFA media release of 16 February
2006 (http://www.fifa.com/en/media/index/0,1369,114771,00.html), yuh go see is FIFA self dat say he did do wrong:

The committee concluded that because of his involvement with Simpaul Travel Service in Port-of-Spain, FIFA vice-president Jack A. Warner
has a conflict of interest with regard to ticketing for the 2006 FIFA World Cup™, and as a result, he has violated FIFA's Code of Ethics.

Better yet, de Media Release of 17 March 2006 'bout de Executive meeting discussin' the issue (http://www.fifa.com/en/media/index/0,1369,115830,00.html)
doh say nuttin' at all 'bout him bein' "cleared"...

The Executive Committee also addressed the report on the meeting of the FIFA Committee for Ethics and Fair Play on 15 February 2006,
chaired by Senes Erzik (Turkey), which noted that FIFA Vice-President Jack A. Warner had brought the matter of his being the co-owner of
Simpaul Travel Service to the attention of this committee for advice. The FIFA Committee for Ethics and Fair Play had found that there was a
conflict of interest and agreed that the matter should be discussed by the FIFA Executive Committee, which it did today.

The actions taken by Jack A. Warner since receiving the advice of the Committee for Ethics and Fair Play - first in ensuring that Simpaul
obeyed the ticketing rules and regulations and finally with him and his wife leaving the company - satisfies the requirements of the FIFA
Executive Committee and accordingly the matter has been closed.

If dat doh sound like a embarrassed FIFA savin' face I ent know...it look like dem ent want no stink before de World Cup, but we go see jes what numbers go play after 9 July 2006. Is long time now dem Europeans want to get back control of FIFA...nevermind dat Blatter from Switzerland, he did side wid Joao Havelange an' Jackson against de EUFA factionan' dem ent about to forget dat. It have too many small side like T&T an' Iran an'
Togo in de ting, while teams like Belgium, Denmark an' Norway sittin' at home watchin' dem play - in Europe to boot! It wasn' all dat long ago dey was investiquiring 'bout said Blatter an' he connections to de collapse of de marketing firm FIFA did hire...guess where de former employees of said firm now working....FIFA's marketing department yuh say? FIFA so 'close' dey almost inbred. Check on de FIFA website
(www.fifa.com) under FIFA Organisation...yuh mean to say wid 207 associations represented in de 6 confederations, is only a handful of dem
who does get to be on ALL de committees? When de "Committee for Ethics and Fair Play" have to 'report' a Vice President of de Executive Committee who is also Vice Chairman of de Finance Committee to de selfsame Executive Committee, an' de Chairman of Ethics is a member of de Executive Committee you could finally begin to unnerstan' what de Duchess was sayin to Alice.

BACKCHAT: Issue 011

amen, sister.

Like you I'm appalled at the number of murders in the country. It's time we challenge the priests of all the denominations to get of their pedestals and to DO something. Like the Priest from Boston - pastor Eugene Rivers - He is one of the so-called Boston miracles- that got all the other pastors to help fathers to get off their couches and start taking good care of their sons before any real change can begin

When the crime started to escalate in TO, the black community sent for Pastor Rivers. They listened, and got the Premier, the education board, the police, businessmen and parents all came together and have started working on the "crime". Its' not going to stop immediately, but it's a start.

There will be more community centres, with counselors, computers, basketball, courts, tennis exercise room etc. A place where youths can get sounselling, guidance and lots of support from the pastors etc.

Some senior university students have started " dance competitions- including breakdance" to get the youths involved - another way to expend some of that pent-up energy.

One of Toronto's leading basketball player is working with the police, schools, parents to understand and help the youths. There are so many talented people in T&T, maybe it's time we challenge them to help the communities. The businessmen have agreed to employ more youths. Those who commit crime now gets stiffer penalties without bail. If you are caught with a handgun, you are as guilty as if you commit a crime. Why should any youth be needing a gun?

Lets challenge the pastors to do what pastor Rivers did. Pastor Rivers worked with the police to create trust among residents so they can help the police solve the crimes. He got the politicians to fund Anti -Gang programs.
From 1990 to 1999 the annual crime rate dropped from 150 to 31.

Some of the residents in the really bad areas in TO called in the "The Guardian Angels" from the U.K. and have started training and will be ready by July. All this in the name of "Let's take back our streets and make it safe for all of us. Drastic times call for drastic measures!
