suggest that the cross in Christianity and the (symbol known in
Hinduism as the) 'swastika' are in some way similar or even related
is fallacious."

Sorry your Honour, but I feel yuh make ah out dere. A quick search on Google for de word "Trimurti" did bring up over 300,000 results, most of which speak of a Triad or Trinity of Hindu Gods while if yuh search fuh "Hindu Trinity" yuh gettin' less, but still over 50,000 results includin'

An' as fuh de swastika, it related to de Christian Cross as said Cross related to de Trinity Cross or even de Red Cross symbol. All of dem is basically ah four arm symbol dat man put dey own meanin' an' significance on. As a matter of fact de swastika really an' truly closer to de Trinity Cross than de Christian Cross because dey is both equilateral, symmetrical crosses, unlike de Christian one dat is most definitely asymmetrical.
If de concept of ah cross is such a anathema to Hindus, is how come de Indian Red Cross Society (http://www.indianredcross.org) does continue to use de same Red Cross symbol dat in use all over de world, except fuh Muslim countries where dey use de RED CRESCENT instead?

By rights dey should be usin' de swastika or some odder symbol dat non-controversial not so? De International Red Cross Society did come up wid such a symbol last year, dey did suggest a red diamond on white background so nobody go get offended. Is what dey go do if South African or Namibian diamond miners decide it lookin' to much like de blood dey spillin' fuh de last 120 or so years?

And as bad as it sounds, Jamaicans are proud of their "rude bway" image and have romanticized marijuana globally. If Trinbagonians were only half as patriotic as our yardie cousins, we would be so much better off.

Trinis do things in spurts and rise to the occasion, but it's not a consistently held effort. We go make a mas' in Germany and then we will move on to the next thing. It have Carnival before cricket world cup in 2007, yuh know! Which Trini you feel goin' tuh focus any attention on cricket before Ash Wednesday?!
